I spend a lot of time teaching and doing research. What do I do on vacation?
I, as you can see from the picture on the right, like to whitewater kayak. The paddling techniques are so important and intense that there is a whole volunteer learning community surrounding the sport. Every volunteer contributes in his or her own way; I used my teaching expertise to painlessly develop surveys and improve curriculum.
More readily available forms of exercising enjoyment are biking and hiking. Madison was rated by Outside Magazine as one of the top ten locations in the United States to live, because of the easy access to biking trails.
When I really have some free time I drive all the way to Mammoth Cave, Kentucky to go caving. While this may be an odd sport, cavers get to see some of the best natural wonders of the world!
